Aldershot has different types of move in GU11 and GU12

Aldershot is a mix of traditional town-centre terraces, purpose-built and converted flats, established residential neighbourhoods, and newer family homes at Wellesley. North Town and Manor Park differ from the pedestrianised shopping core; the Ash side of GU12 has additional boundary considerations, so use the full postcode for the correct local authority and access.

Critical Aldershot town-centre bollard access rules

Rushmoor Borough Council says Aldershot town centre is largely pedestrianised, with automatic bollards at the top of Union Street, Wellington Street/High Street and Wellington Street/Victoria Road. For authorised vehicle access, the council asks for the date and time, vehicle registration and contact number by email to towncentremanager@rushmoor.gov.uk at least 24 hours beforehand. It states that Thursday access is not allowed unless you are a market stallholder. Read the council’s town-centre access instructions before booking a restricted-centre removal.

Do not assume a removal booking or an online map route opens the bollards. Obtain explicit permission for the actual van and time, or tell Sandy Movers which lawful service entrance outside the restricted zone can be used. Ask the building manager about stairs and the carrying route.

Hampshire suspensions versus Rushmoor off-street parking

For on-street loading permissions, start with Hampshire County Council’s parking bay suspension rules and dispensations. A suspension is the route for reserving specified parking spaces subject to approval; a dispensation can authorise certain waiting conditions but does not guarantee space. Neither automatically provides permission to pass Aldershot’s town-centre bollards.

Check the kerb markings, signs and any temporary restrictions at the collection and destination street. Rushmoor operates town-centre parking facilities, but a public car-park payment cannot be assumed to reserve the kerb outside a flat. Send the approved bay or access permission to Sandy Movers before moving day.

Union Yard: apartment moves and student accommodation

Rushmoor’s Union Yard project includes new apartments, student accommodation, a public square and commercial units between Union Street and High Street. The council lists Burton House, Seacole Place, Sheldrake House and Polden Studios. These are specific buildings, each with its own managing and access arrangements; do not infer a loading entrance from a pedestrian route through the scheme.

If moving into a Union Yard home, ask the relevant property manager for the exact goods entry, lift booking, service corridor, permitted hours, key collection and vehicle authorisation. Show Sandy Movers a plan or photos of the loading route so the furniture is delivered through the approved access, not across public steps or a restricted plaza.

Wellesley: estate access, new homes and family packing

Wellesley is the significant housing redevelopment north of Aldershot town centre on former military land. Rushmoor records planning consent for up to 3,850 homes with schools and public spaces. These details identify a growing residential area, but they do not mean every road, parking bay or housing phase has the same status. New terraces, estate homes and managed blocks can have assigned parking or traffic-management conditions.

Before moving, confirm the adopted road or estate-manager rules, door number, gate and any developer or building restrictions. North Town, Manor Park and older Aldershot properties

Older Aldershot streets around North Town, Manor Park and the town-centre fringe may include terraced frontages, stepped entrances, small shared paths or street parking. The visible driveway, where present, may not allow a larger van to reverse or turn safely. For heavier items, measure the tightest hallway or landing and send item dimensions rather than assuming anything can be tipped through a door.

Photograph any yellow lines, bus-stop areas, narrow corners and the door nearest to the legal van position. Sandy Movers uses those details to choose a safe loading method and labour plan, including agreed furniture dismantling where needed.

Aldershot school finder and actual postcode catchments

Hampshire’s directory includes Alderwood School and The Cambridge Primary School, with other nearby options depending on the address. The Hampshire School Catchment Finder and each school’s published admissions policy must be used to check the correct area. County consultations have included catchment changes related to Wellesley-area development such as Blandford House and Malta Barracks; do not assume old maps remain accurate.

Use Find a School to check full details, and in-year applications if your child is changing school outside the normal September entry. Avoid planning a van arrival across a school entrance during collection time without checking road and parking controls.

Military-town relocations and restricted property access

Aldershot’s military identity and the former garrison housing can lead to enquiries connected with service accommodation, but not every military-related address is public-access housing. If collection or delivery requires authorised entry to a defence property, obtain the responsible contact, approved vehicle identification, access time and location before booking.

A331, station access and real moving-day travel

Aldershot rail station, the A331 Blackwater Valley route, A323 and access to the M3 are practical connections for trips toward Farnborough, Fleet, Surrey and London. Yet town-centre loading rules and building access can be more decisive than the road mileage. Check for street works and give the crew a realistic key-release or appointment window.

For a move from Aldershot to Farnborough, Guildford, Woking or Reading, give both full postcodes so the handling plan accounts for potentially different parking authorities and building rules at each end.

Full packing and a safe moving-day loading sequence

Keep ID, keys, school papers, medicines, chargers and completion documents out of the main boxes. List appliances, garden contents and wardrobes needing dismantling.
