How Sandy Movers handles the move

    We agree what can move

Tell us who controls access and which rooms the repair team needs clear. We agree which items go where and who can approve the work.

    We quote each part

We price packing, move-out, temporary accommodation deliveries and storage transfers separately. We can send the quote directly to the person approving it.

    We return and reassemble

We confirm which items are coming back, price agreed reassembly and book delivery when the repairs team releases the property.

    Request an itemised claims quote

Send us the collection postcode and a short brief. We’ll confirm the crew, what needs moving and who should receive the quote.

Speak to our team on 0203 8888 188

Tell us which rooms need clearing, whether the site has been cleared for access and where the items may go. Share claim references, photos and documents with our team during follow-up.

What we can take care of

Contents pack-outs after flooding, water damage or fire

A contents pack-out clears the approved rooms so drying or reinstatement can begin. We can pack and move suitable belongings from one room, part of a property or a whole home in West London and nearby Home Counties. Tell us which rooms are in scope, which items can be handled and whether everyday essentials need to go to temporary accommodation.

    • Partial pack-out: clear specific rooms or floors for access by the drying and repair team.
    • Full pack-out: agree the household inventory and mark separate destinations where needed.
    • Return and redelivery: quote delivery back and furniture reassembly separately when appropriate.

Agree safe access and which contents can move

Before dispatch, the person responsible for the site must confirm safe access and which items have been cleared for handling. The restoration team or insurer should instruct on contaminated, wet or smoke-damaged items and any items that need to be kept as evidence. Drying, cleaning and restoration remain with the responsible specialist.

A quote your loss adjuster can approve line by line

We can speak directly with the insurer, loss adjuster or appointed contractor about the removals with your permission. We agree who instructs the job, which legs are authorised and whose name goes on the invoice. We’ll give the payer a clear quote for approval. If you’re paying and claiming it back, send the quote to the insurer before you book.

    • List packing labour, materials, collection and each destination separately.
    • Identify the storage operator and account holder. Confirm separately who pays storage fees and approves extensions.
    • Carry approved changes and the agreed claim or work reference onto the final invoice.
    Practical guide

What to do before a flood or fire pack-out

    1. 1

Agree the room list with the restoration team

Ask which rooms need to be empty and by when. A leak upstairs can also affect the room below, so use the restoration team’s scope. Record what can move immediately, what must stay for inspection and which items the specialist is taking.

    2. 2

Separate essentials, storage and specialist handling

Give the crew a destination for each group. A laptop or work clothes may be needed at the temporary address the same day. Bulk furniture can go to storage. Put wet or smoke-affected items aside for the specialist to assess and keep any items the adjuster needs as evidence.

    3. 3

Give the adjuster something they can authorise

Send the itemised quote, the job or claim reference and who should receive the invoice. Get the initial move approved first. Keep storage weeks, extensions and return charges visible so there’s a written record when the repair schedule changes.

    4. 4

Close out the move when the property is ready

Check the return inventory against the move-out list and confirm which furniture needs reassembling. Agree who signs for delivery and tell us where items should go room by room. The invoice shows what we moved, when, and any approved changes.

What recent UK claims data shows

    £28,000

Average domestic flood claim in July to September 2026, according to the Association of British Insurers. That is the whole claim. An itemised removal quote lets the adjuster assess packing, transport and storage transfers separately.

ABI Property Insurance Tracker, Q3 2026

    £38,000

Average domestic fire claim in the same quarter. For a fire pack-out, agree which contents the restoration team keeps and which the removal crew collects before either team starts.

    Frequently asked questions

Will insurance pay for removals and storage after a flood or fire?

Yes, when your insurer approves the costs under your policy. Send our itemised quote before booking so the adjuster can approve packing, transport, storage and redelivery separately.

Can you invoice my insurer or loss adjuster directly?

Yes. Once the insurer or authorised company approves the work and accepts the invoice, we can bill them directly. If you’re reclaiming the cost, we can invoice you with the approved scope and reference.

Can you move furniture from a fire- or flood-damaged home?

We move contents cleared for safe handling once access is confirmed. Ask the restoration team how to handle items affected by smoke, water or contamination.

Can you move some belongings to temporary accommodation and some to storage?

Yes, where the destinations and inventory split are agreed. We can show each leg separately for approval.

What information do you need for an insurance removals quote?

Start with the collection postcode, target date, destination if known, and a brief list of rooms or items. We can confirm access, the scope and the payer’s reference with your authorised contact in follow-up.

Can you quote for the return before repairs are finished?

Yes. We can price redelivery up front. Once the repairs team confirms access, we’ll agree the date and which items need reassembly.

Can my loss adjuster or restoration contractor instruct the move?

Yes. Give us their details and the approved rooms or items. We’ll agree the quote, access, destination and who can authorise changes directly with them.

Do you move the entire house or only the affected rooms?

We do both. For a partial pack-out, give us the rooms the repair team needs clear. For a whole home, we’ll agree the inventory and label items for each destination.

How much does a contents pack-out cost?

We price the contents volume, packing materials, stairs and access, crew size and destinations. We show transport, packing and any separately agreed return so the adjuster can approve each part.

What happens if repairs take longer and I need more storage?

Ask the account holder to approve the extra storage before it renews. We can reschedule the return with the authorised contact and confirm any change to our transport quote.
